Overview

Why we're telling you this at all

Everything JUFUNG sells is a digital file — illustrated clip art delivered as a PNG download. Nothing is shipped, and there's no physical warehouse or courier involved in getting a bundle to you. That matters here, because digital goods are taxed differently to physical products, and the rules vary depending on where you, the customer, are buying from.

This page explains, in our own words rather than boilerplate, exactly what's included in the price you see on a product page, whether VAT or US sales tax gets added at checkout, and why. We've written it to be read by an actual customer, not a lawyer, and we keep it current as our own registration status or the underlying rules change.

JUFUNG LTD (Company No. 17183733) trades as an online-only studio under SIC code 47910 — retail sale via mail order houses or via the internet — selling directly to individual customers through this Shopify storefront.

UK & EU VAT

%Where we stand on VAT today

JUFUNG LTD is not currently registered for UK VAT, and that single fact shapes everything below.

No VAT is added to any order placed on jufung.shop, regardless of whether you're buying from the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, or anywhere else. The price shown on a product page is the price you pay.

Below the VAT registration threshold

UK businesses only have to register for VAT once their taxable turnover passes £90,000 in any rolling 12-month period — the current HMRC threshold for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 tax years. JUFUNG's turnover sits below that figure, so we haven't registered.

Because we're not registered, we're not legally permitted to charge VAT, issue a VAT invoice, or quote a VAT registration number on receipts.

What this means for EU customers

Ordinarily, a UK business selling downloadable digital content to a private individual in the EU would need to consider VAT on cross-border digital services. As an unregistered business, that obligation doesn't currently apply to us either, so EU customers are charged exactly the same VAT-free price shown on the product page.

If our situation changes

If our turnover grows past the threshold, or we choose to register voluntarily before then, we'll register with HMRC, start charging VAT at the applicable rate, and update this page, our checkout, and our invoices in advance — with our VAT registration number published here.

Why the price never moves at checkout

Because there's no VAT to add, the subtotal you see when browsing is the same figure you'll see at the payment step for any UK or EU order — there's no separate VAT line to watch for.

US Sales Tax

$What US customers might see

Unlike VAT, US sales tax is a state-by-state matter, and whether it applies to your order depends on where you live and how that state treats digital downloads.

Nexus, in plain terms

Since the US Supreme Court's 2018 ruling in South Dakota v. Wayfair, individual states can require an out-of-state online seller like JUFUNG to collect their sales tax once we cross that state's "economic nexus" threshold — commonly a set dollar amount or number of orders shipped into that state over a 12-month period. Every state sets its own figure, and JUFUNG only collects tax in a state once we're legally required to.

Digital downloads aren't treated the same everywhere

Some US states tax downloadable digital products like clip art in the same way as physical goods; others don't tax digital-only purchases at all. There's no single national rule, so the taxability of your order genuinely depends on your state's own law.

Calculated for you, automatically

Our storefront runs on Shopify's built-in tax engine, which checks the delivery/billing state on every US order against current state rules and adds the correct sales tax as its own line item, only where one is actually owed. We don't set these rates manually, and we don't add tax where none applies.

No tax line? That's expected, not an error

If you check out and don't see a sales tax line, it simply means JUFUNG doesn't currently have a collection obligation for your state. That can change as our sales grow into new states, and the checkout will always reflect the current position at the moment you order.

Currency & Conversion

The currency behind the price

Base currencyEvery price on jufung.shop is set and charged in Pound Sterling (GBP), reflecting our UK registration.
Shopping in another currencyIf you're browsing from outside the UK, your browser may show an estimated price in your local currency for convenience. Your card is ultimately settled based on the checkout's stated currency.
Card-issuer conversionIf your bank or card issuer settles the charge in a currency other than GBP (for example, US customers paying in USD), the exchange rate and any conversion or foreign transaction fee are set by your card issuer, not by JUFUNG. We don't add a markup of our own on top.
What to checkYour bank statement or card app is the most accurate place to confirm the exact amount and currency you were charged.
How Checkout Works

From product page to payment, in three steps

Any tax due is worked out at the very last step, once your delivery country and state are known — never guessed at earlier in your browsing.

01

You add a bundle to your basket

The price shown is our listed GBP price, before any tax that might apply to your particular order.

02

Shopify checks your location

At checkout, Shopify's tax engine reads your billing/delivery details and checks them against current UK VAT rules and the relevant US state's sales tax rules.

03

You see the final total, then pay

Any tax that applies is itemised as its own line before you confirm payment through Shopify's encrypted, PCI-compliant checkout. Nothing is added afterwards.

Receipts & Records

What proof of purchase you get

Your order confirmation email

This is your receipt. It lists the items purchased, the price paid, any sales tax charged, and the total amount taken by your card issuer.

No VAT invoice, for now

Because JUFUNG isn't VAT-registered, we can't legally produce a formal VAT invoice or show a VAT number on any receipt — there simply isn't one to show yet.

That will update automatically

If we register for VAT in future, our checkout and confirmation emails will begin including our VAT registration number and a full VAT breakdown without you needing to do anything.

Keeping This Current

Why this page won't stay static

Tax thresholds, state nexus rules, and our own VAT registration status can all change over time. We review this page whenever any of them do — particularly around the UK VAT threshold, changes to US state economic nexus rules, or a change in our own turnover — and we always keep the "last updated" date below current.

If we ever update how tax is calculated at checkout, the change takes effect on new orders going forward; it doesn't alter tax already charged on an order you've already placed.

Still Have A Question

Not sure what you'll be charged? Ask before you buy.

Email us or use live chat and we'll walk you through exactly what your order will look like at checkout, tax included.
